The LiDAR focusing system is a useful tool for hand-held shooting, as it eliminates the need to rely on the surface texture of the subject for focusing. This is particularly beneficial in low-light environments and allows for exceptional focusing capabilities. The new LiDAR Range Finder (RS) has impressive capabilities, including the ability to project 43,200 ranging points and detect within a range of 14 meters. It also features a built-in camera with a 30 mm focal length and a wide field of view of 70°, making it suitable for most shooting scenarios. Additionally, when paired with the new Focus Motor (2022), the LiDAR Range Finder (RS) enables autofocus on manual lenses after calibration.
Another advantage of the LiDAR Range Finder (RS) is that it allows for ActiveTrack Pro on the RS 3 Pro, resulting in improved subject identification and tracking performance. It should be noted, however, that the maximum detection distance for human subjects is 7 meters in normal shooting environments, as tested in an environment without strong light.

About the DJI LiDAR Range Finder
The LiDAR focusing system makes focusing easier for hand-held shooting, without relying on the surface texture of the subject. This is especially useful in low-light environments and results in exceptional focusing capabilities.
The new LiDAR Range Finder (RS) can project 43,200 ranging points, detect within a 14-meter range, [1] and has a built-in camera with an equivalent focal length of 30 mm and a wide FOV of 70°, which can handle the focusing needs of most scenarios. Pairing with the new Focus Motor (2022) also makes autofocus on manual lenses possible after calibration.
With the LiDAR Range Finder (RS), RS 3 Pro supports ActiveTrack Pro, delivering better subject identification and tracking performance.
[1] Tested in an environment without strong light. In normal shooting environments, the detection distance of human subjects is 7 meters.
