The Sigma 150-500mm Super Telephoto DG lens is suitable for both full frame and APS-C sized camera sensors, and has been designed with digital sensors in mind to produce the clearest image without ghosting. It also has Optical Stabilisation (OS) which gives the equivalent of an extra 4 stops of slower shutter speeds that can be used, extending the capability of handholding without blurring.
Optically there are three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements to give the best possible reduction of chromatic aberration otherwise referred to as colour fringing. In addition there is Apochromatic (APO) lens design to give extra sharpness throughout the zoom range. Super Multi Layer Coating is also used to keep flare and ghosting to an absolute minimum. There is even a Rear Focus System for reduction of fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing.
Focusing is fast, precise and quiet thanks to the HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) that incorporates Full Time Manual Focus for an easy override capability at any chosen moment.
This lens will accept Sigma APO Teleconverters.

The lens is equipped with Sigma's own unique OS (Optical Stabilizer) function. This function uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera and works by moving an optical image stabilizer lens group to effectively compensate for camera shake. It offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower. Mode 1 is ideal for general photography, and Mode 2 is effective on moving subject such as motor sports etc. For Sony and Pentax mount, the built-in OS function of this lens can be used even if the camera body is equipped with an anti-shake function. As compensation for camera shake is visible in the view finder, the photographer can easily check for accurate focus and ensure there is no subject movement.
This ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and allows photographers to freely play with the ability of telephoto lenses to ring the subject closer and shorten perspective. The OS (Optical Stabilizer) function provides stable images though the viewfinder and enables the photographer to easily determine the composition with the narrow angle of view. A removable tripod socket (TS-31) is included, which is convenient for handheld photography.
This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 220cm (86.6") throughout the entire zoom range. It is convenient for taking close-up pictures. It is possible to enjoy taking close up pictures of small or large subjects.
Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide the correction for axial chromatic aberration. The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. This lens is equipped with a rear focus system that minimizes fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.
This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focus override by rotation of the focus ring.
The addition of the (optional) 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters produce a 210-700mm F7-8.8 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a 300-1000mm F10-12.6 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively.
