Important: For the list of tested media compatible with Atomos recording devices please check the official Atomos site at https://www.atomos.com/drives.

The Sumo19M has a daylight-viewable 1920 x 1080 IPS screen capable of stunning 1200nit brightness, combined with the ability to display a wide range of 4K and HD sources. The Sumo19M features 10-bit processing coupled with Atomos’ unique AtomHDR engine for easy and accurate HDR monitoring. You can easily set optimal exposure when exposing for Rec.709 or HDR material. There is a comprehensive set of manufacturer-specific Log gamma settings pre-installed and multiple custom LUTs for creative looks can be stored and displayed on the Sumo19M. These LUTs are loaded via a standard 2.5 inch drive placed in an Atomos Master Caddy. The unique HDR slider allows users to rapidly examine Log images when shooting for either HDR or SDR. In SDR the slider can be used to set exposure to prevent excessive noise in shadow areas, or blown-out highlights.

In addition, the Sumo19M has the full range of exposure and composition tools found on other Atomos 4K monitors. Waveform monitoring, zebras, 1:1 and 1:2 magnification, peaking, false colour, vectorscopes, anamorphic desqueeze and frame guides are all available at your fingertips. Display accuracy can be guaranteed over time using a i1DisplayPro probe and calibration software from colour specialists X-rite. An optional sunhood is also available which can be left on the unit and folds down for transport.

Editing Monitor

Sumo19M is just as at home in the edit suite as on-set. The color-accurate display gives the ability to grade HDR or Rec.709 productions with confidence. Edit in Log and instantly see your result in Rec.709 with 10+ stops of dynamic range displayed.  Maintain color accuracy over time with the X-rite i1DisplayPro probe. Output in HDR to HLG or PQ formats for instant preview on a compatible HDR television. Unlike a regular computer monitor, the Sumo19M directly accepts broadcast spec video signals over SDI and HDMI from your NLE. This allows for extremely accurate monitoring. Waveforms, RGB parade, vectorscope and safety guides are all available at your fingertips.

Director’s and client monitor

The large 1200nit daylight viewable 1920x1080 display will impress your directors and clients, especially with its HDR capabilities. Give them the confidence that your colors and exposures are perfectly set whether you are shooting for HDR or regular Rec.709 delivery. See Log footage with 10+ stops of dynamic range on screen by using the unique AtomHDR engine. Easily demonstrate your vision with the ability to load and display creative LUTs. Output to connected screens and devices via HDMI or HD-SDI with LUTs applied, or in HDR in HLG or PQ formats.

Gaffer, Focus puller and support crew

Take the guesswork out of technical setups and focussing your images with the large, high brightness 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD display. Don’t work with a flat, hard to see Log image. Use the preset camera profiles to quickly view footage from most Log cameras in Rec.709. Peaking makes sure that your shots are correctly focussed, whilst Waveform ensures optimal exposure to give rapid confirmation that your shots are setup correctly.

DIT Cart operator

DITs will appreciate the robust construction, multiple connections and flexible power options when using the Sumo19M on their carts. Use the comprehensive range of video monitoring tools, including waveform and vectorscope, to quickly confirm the quality of your client’s image. Use AtomHDR to see 10+ stops of dynamic range on screen from your Log material. Quickly preview Log material in Rec.709 with a LUT applied, or using one of the pre-installed manufacturer specific camera profiles.

Realtime exposure on set from log for HDR & SDR

The AtomHDR engine perfectly maps Log/PQ/HLG from popular cameras/ game consoles to SUMO19M’s amazing panel, resolving 10+ stops of HDR in real-time for perfect setting. Pass-on HDR to other devices over HDMI or SDI, in HD or 4K and in Rec709/HLG/PQ. To get the best image from your sensor, you must shoot Log and only AtomHDR makes exposing Log easier, unlocking every camera’s HDR potential. The SUMO19M inputs can be used as an editing and grading companion in the studio with full SDR & HDR support through 709/HLG/PQ.

Monitoring made even simpler with Atomos 8

The SUMO19M is all about performance monitoring; HDR or SDR, 4Kp60 or HD, 12G-SDI or HDMI 2.0 and everything in between. With the recording functions removed, the user interface has been redesigned to emulate a button-based monitor. All the precision scopes can be accessed from the bottom of the screen as an overlay - simple and intuitive adjustments, just like your phone.

Noise free SDR with log & atomhdr

Today’s productions require flexibility to perform, no matter the camera or production you MUST be able to deliver superb SDR or mind blowing HDR to your clients. Shooting Log from your camera and exposing using AtomHDR gives you the maximum latitude and flexibility in Post Production to produce the cleanest noise-free SDR image and highest dynamic range HDR.

Selectable dual 12/6/3g-sdi input for a/b comparison

The SUMO19M accepts up to 4Kp60 or HDp240 over HDMI or the dual 12/6/3G-SDI inputs. Additionally, there are dedicated input selection buttons on the user interface to make A/B comparison between sources simple and simultaneous HDMI and SDI output of the corresponding input for routing to other monitors, recorders or switchers.

3D LUT’s - precise, flexible and infinite.

Load an infinite number of custom LUT’s onto SUMO19M via the HDD/SSD slot. Apply and compare looks for finishing in SDR or HDR, form your favourite LUT for your camera or from your post team for consistency across shoots. All stakeholders from customers to directors can see the creative finish live on the day!

High bright 1200NIT 19" calibrated 1920x1080 monitor

The extremely bright 1200nit display means you can accurately monitor, even when outside in full daylight. SUMO19M has a wide viewing angle so that everyone on set can review the action and also features optional calibration using X-Rite’s i1DisplayPro for ongoing accurate HDR and Rec709 monitoring.

Built for production

The Aluminium alloy chassis with built-in armor houses sixteen 1/4" and eight 3/8" mounting points around the top/bottom/sides, a rear panel VESA mount and included feet for a variety of mounting configurations.

Continuous power

The optional mounting plates connect dual V-Lock or Anton Bauer batteries that work in tandem with our patent pending continuous power system. Sumo automatically swaps to the second battery when power is low, allowing the drained battery to be hot swapped to ensure you are never without power in the field.

HDR, high brightness and LUTs

In the edit suite

Sumo19M is just at home in the edit suite as on-set. The colour-accurate display allows productions the ability to grade their footage with confidence. Unlike a regular computer monitor, the Sumo19M directly accepts broadcast spec video signals over SDI and HDMI for accurate monitoring.

Connections

The Sumo19M has two 12G/6G/3G SDI inputs for A/B input comparison of 4K or HD sources, plus a HDMI 2.0 input for easy connection to consumer imaging devices like DSLRs, camcorders or mirrorless cameras. Frame rates of up to 60 fps are supported. Signals can also be output and also cross-converted between SDI and HDMI, with the added ability to output a signal with LUT applied, or to convert a Log image to HLG and PQ HDR standards on the fly.

User interface

The reconfigured user interface gives direct access to all key functions via the touchscreen. To make it feel more familiar the layout emulates a traditional push-button monitor, but with the key advantage of more rapid touch selection and easier advanced option access. The elegant and intuitive layout means you and your crew won’t get confused setting up.

Ready for production

Not only is the Sumo19M beautiful to look at, it is robustly built to handle the rigours of daily production. It has an aluminium chassis with built-in armour and distinctive grey protective bumpers on each corner. There are multiple mounting holes on each side for attachment of handles, wireless video systems or other accessories. The Sumo19M has a 3.5mm headphone jack for on-set review of audio.

Mounting options

On the rear of Sumo19M there is an industry standard VESA hole pattern for mounting to a wide variety of third party brackets. The monitor also comes with solid metal feet for desktop use.

Flexible power

Sumo19M has three separate XLR power inputs. Along with one for a regular mains supply, it has a further two for the Atomos hot swap battery system which provides the ability to power continuously in the field. The battery wing plate included allows two V-Lock or Anton Bauer battery plates (not included) to be attached to the Sumo19M; when one battery runs out the other takes over, allowing the flat one to be replaced without powering down the monitor.
