About the Epic/Scarlet V-Mount Module

The Electra provides professional power distribution and functionality. The module offers several 12V* and one 24V accessory connections, camera in/out connections and a build-in buffer battery for hot-swap. Accessory ports are angled to keep the cables out of the way. Main connections are on the assistants side. All this in a light fully milled aluminum (7075) shell. We offer the Electra in two different versions:

Built on battery plate
The Battery plate is built directly on the Electra. The Electra is then either Anton Bauer (Gold Mount)** or V-Mount**. An upgrade to the quick release mount is possible.

Quick Release Mount
This version does not come with an own battery plate. However it is compatible with our Battery Module. This allows fast changing between Anton Bauer (Gold Mount) and V-Mount Modules or when using one of the available adapter cables you can use the Battery Module or an other power source external from the „Electra“ (for example as counterbalance on a shoulder mount setup). The Battery module is available in an Anton Bauer (Gold Mount) and V-Mount version. It’s meant to be the “last” module on the chain and is compatible with all module parts. Battery On-Screen Information
All V-Mount versions support Epic/Scarlett on-screen battery information.

Accessory Power Connections1x DC in/out

1X 24V Fischer
1x 12V LEMO
DC Power Connectors1x 6-pin LEMO
Internal Buffer Battery14.2V / 10A max (approximately 4min runtime)

Power Connections

DC Connections
The Electra provides two DC in/out connections. One Epic standard connector (with battery information) and one standard XLR. Both connectors can be used for unregulated power input or output. To hot-swap between two power sources the internal buffer battery has to be used, simultaneous input of two power sources is not provided. All power input will be transferred to the camera unregulated. The DC connections can not be used together with a mounted battery (besides hot swapping). Manual hot-swap with the internal buffer-battery is possible.

D-Tap
The Electra provides one D-Tap connection (12V*). A second D-Tap is found on the Anton Bauer or V-Mount battery plate, which is powered even when the system is powered through the dc connections.

24V Fischer Connection
The 24V  is a standard Arri RS connection for accessories. The power is regulated and up-converted. If the Electra is used together with the ActionProducts Top Plate “Apollo” then the RS connector of the TopPlate also provides 24V accessory power. Max. power draw is 2.2 A for all 24V connections.

12V* Lemo Connections
There are two original LEMO connections (0B) for 12V accessories. One is Arri standard 2pin, the other is RED standard 4pin. Both provide max. 3 A each (limitations might occur through battery).

Hot-Swap and Shut-Down

Buffer Battery
The Electra has a very powerful built in buffer battery that can power the camera and accessories for up to 4 minutes (10A). Allowing hot-swap functionality while the camera and accessories keep running. When using standard Anton Bauer/V-Mount batteries – simply push the Electra’s main power button (pwr) before switching to a new battery. The buffer battery is activated. When a new battery is mounted the buffer battery is automatically switched off and recharges.

Shut-Down
Pushing the power button (pwr) for 5 seconds will shut-down the hole power-system (camera AND accessories). This is useful to provide accessories to use power even when the camera is not running. Simply tap the button again for re-powering.

LED indication
The LED on top of the Electra shows the power status of the module:

Green
Main battery is powering the system, internal battery is fully charged

Green slowly blinking
Internal buffer battery is powering the system

Green fast blinking
Internal buffer battery low

Green with yellow flashing
Internal buffer battery is charging

Red blinking
Main battery is low
