Panasonic AG-AC90 (AGAC90) Full HD AVCCAM 1/4 3MOS Camcorder

The new memory card recorder combines the high image quality, advanced functions and easy operation that professionals demand in a stylish, easy-to-handle design. Its zoom lens extends from 29.8 mm (35mm equivalent) wide angle to 12x optical zoom, with a high speed of F1.5 brightness. BSI (backside illumination) type 3MOS image sensors exhibit high sensitivity, Full-HD resolution and a high S/N ration. And the AVCHD recorder section supports both PS mode, for Full-HD progressive image production, and pro-use PH mode. They give a camera operator the field of view, the image quality, and the file/video formats he/she needs for news gathering and image production. Other professional operating features include Triple Manual Rings (focus, zoom and iris) that approach the versatility and feel of the interchangeable lenses, XLR Microphone/Audio inputs, and remote terminals to provide the system expandability that professional application require.

Excellent product but still getting... - Feefo - Monday 13th January 2014 - 4 Stars
Excellent product but still getting used to it. Hence not excellent - yet!

29.8mm Wide-Angle / High powered Zoom Lens
The high-powered 12x zoom lens includes a 29.8 mm (35 mm equivalent) wide-angle setting. When using the Intelligent 25x digital zoom, it achieves up to 25x seamless zooming. In addition, it also features 2x, 5x and 10x digital zoom function. Panasonic’s unique Nano Surface Coating minimizes ghosts and flaring, and a high speed, F1.5 brightness enables extremely clear image rendering. The built-in 5-axis Hybrid OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) ensures stable handheld shooting.

High-Sensitivity BSI Type 3MOS Sensors
Three (RGB) backside illumination corresponding 1/4.7 type MOS image sensors have an effective pixel count of 2,190,000 pixels. This makes it possible to capture excellent images with high definition and superb color reproduction even in dimly lit locations. The image processing circuit, which is tuned for professional use, produces highly natural gradation and sharp detail.

Easy Operation with Triple Manual Rings and a High-Definition LCD monitor
The lens barrel is equipped with manual rings for focus, zoom and iris operation to enable the kind of speedy, intuitive camera work that is generally associated with interchangeable lenses. The 8.89 cm (3.5 inches) LCD monitor (touch panel), which stores easily inside the top front part of the handle, has approximately 1,150,000 dot resolution to enhance focusing, and includes focus assist, zebra, and color bar display functions. The LCD monitor rotates 270 degrees for easy low-angle, high-angle, and self-interview shootings.

Photolease is an independent finance company who have specialised in leasing equipment to the imaging industry for over twenty five years.

    1. Banking facilities left available for special projects and unforeseen expenses.
    2. Small initial outlay usually amounting to just one months rental.
    3. Payment can be spread over a period of one to four years dependent upon value and type of equipment.
    4. A single payment at the end of the lease guarantees retention of the asset for the remainder of its working life.
    5. If you want to sell the equipment after the lease has ended you will receive the sale proceeds.
    6. Rentals are fully tax deductible.
    7. Cash flow is protected and the asset earns revenue in payment of the lease.
    8. No need to be VAT registered.

What happens at the end of the lease?

We will extend the agreement indefinitely on payment of a single further monthly rental. After that you can keep the equipment and will never have to pay any more.

Isn't leasing just for companies who can't afford the cash?
No. Companies who lease do so because they know that there are better uses for their spare funds.

Is leasing only relevant for large acquisitions?
No. Transactions of all sizes are completed using lease agreements. You can lease equipment worth as little as £1000.

Do I have to insure the equipment?
Yes. It is your responsibility to keep the equipment insured for all risks for the term of the agreement.

What happens if the equipment becomes faulty?
You have the protection of the manufacturers and/or suppliers warranty. Responsibility for repairs out of warranty are yours.

    What about VAT?
Rentals attract VAT. This can be reclaimed if you are VAT registered. Please check your VAT status, or consult your accountant

What can be included in the agreement?
Leasing enables the whole solution to be financed. This can include hardware, software, installation, training and warranties

    Can the equipment be upgraded?
Yes. The equipment can be upgraded during the course of the agreement. Speak to us for further details.

Is it possible to settle the agreement early?
Yes. However we always recommend you speak to your accountant to make sure it does not create an adverse tax position.

Is there a penalty for settling early?
No. If you clear the account before it has run it’s full term then there is a reduction in the full amount payable.

Can I pay a deposit to lower my monthly outlay?
Yes. However you would need to contact us to find the correct figures based on your deposit amount.

    *includes setup/documentation fee
My Rode NTG-3 shotgun mic doesn't fit tightly into the microphone holder on this camera. The mic is a bit loose. Do you know how to solve this problem?
Dale - 02/01/2014
Could you give me an help to find a microphone compatible with this model? If something goes wrong with this camera, how does the warranty work?
If you're looking for a camera mounted shotgun mic, then the Sony ECM-VG1 would be a good choice:- For advice on other types of mic, please email your requirements and contact details to and someone will get back to you. With regard to warranty, Panasonic offer a Europe wide warranty on the camera so should warranty service/repair be required, then it could be performed by a dealer in your locality if you didn't want to return the camera to us.

Claudio - 15/11/2012
HiPlease let me know if this camera has 1)a macro facility to record in close up as well2)a push button expand the centre of the screen to check focus Many thanksSasha
The AG-AC90 has a 'Focus Assist' feature ie a 'viewfinder only' digital zoom to assist with focussing, but no macro facility

Filter thread size? Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:0 I assume? I look to fly to the UK from Turkey to buy. Pricing? Might go to the states in Dec in NYC. BH Photo is conveniently there.
The lens hood is fixed on this camera. The HDMI output is Uncompressed 8-Bit 4:2:2 when bypassing the internal recording system, which is Compressed 8-Bit 4:2:0. This is not a worldwide product, there are two models - a US model (60Hz: 1080/60p, 60i, 30p, 24p, 480/60i) and a European model (50Hz: 1080/50p, 50i, 25p, 576/50i).
Joel - 29/09/2012
Any news on the hdmi output? Is it uncompressed, as this would favour bolting on a ninja2 for high 50mb recording bitrates.can the hdmi be output without any gui on display ie. pure picture
The AG-AC90 does have a clear HDMI output, uncompressed, 8 bit and so could be used with a Ninja 2
